ABOUT US

Owner Rick Hewland’s love for fishing began as a young child when his dad, Barry would take him fishing to Leven Canal and to the Brandsburton ponds at weekends and in the school holidays. They also spent many happy hours fishing together on the banks of Lake Semerwater in the Yorkshire Dales on their family holidays.

Living on the doorstep of East Park also meant Rick could regularly go fishing with his school friends and pike fishing with his rugby colleague and friend Tracy Lazenby. When Rick passed his driving test, his mam would lend him her car so he could fish many different venues. Rick enjoyed fishing Bill Baker’s pond at Newport in the late 80’s where he met Rob Froggett who loved his carp fishing too and they formed a friendship that has lasted to this day. In 1995 they decided to try fishing abroad so they arranged a trip to the Les Quis Complex in France, which they enjoyed very much.  In fact they still go on a trip each year which now includes Rick’s son, Tom and grandson, Jack who both enjoy fishing. It is these fishing experiences that have driven Rick to create and spend his retirement running his own carp fishing holiday venue here in the UK where he hopes to create the same friendly atmosphere and excitement for anglers at PB Lakes that he has experienced over many years. Rick is determined to enjoy this new challenge with his family and friends and he hopes anglers will enjoy their time fishing a venue that is very different from anything currently available in the UK and hopes they break a few PB’s along the way.
